temporary idea of "forcing" UDMA
1) Try to use /native and/or /raise switches for ideata.ham. (Didn't work for me though...)

2) Load the driver in legacy mode, unload it, then load it again (with slot=xxx)
You have to rename idehd.cdm and idecd.cdm files for not to autoload.
You can only unload from autoexec.ncf, so you have to have a startuf.ncf WITHOUT loading the drivers, and an AUTOEXEC.NCF (on C:) to load the disk drivers. You also have to set the basic things here, such as file server name, time infos, etc. Then (after mounting) you can start your SYS:SYSTEM\AUTOEXEC.NCF. It is probably better to rename it like AUTO1.NCF or alike. It is not necessary to remove redundant file server name, and time infos.
